“We respect and protect great white sharks, in order to provide our clients with an unforgettable educational trip.” Brian’s vast knowledge and experience of the sea is educational and highly entertaining.
“We do not feed the sharks under any circumstances.” “We use a scent line to attract them, and our ‘secret weapon’ is a seal cut-out called Gladys, which attracts the sharks closer to the boat.”
The company prides itself on offering the very best in terms of viewing, diving and travelling to see the great whites. The staff is well qualified and enjoy dealing with customers.
Great White Shark Tours operates in the area known as Dyer Island, situated 7km from the launch at Kleinbaai, or Jouberts dam near Gansbaai. Dyer Island boasts a banquet of food to interest the great white shark.
Being a surface feeder, the great white can be seen and photographed from the surface. They are normally seen 99% of the time. “We have a ‘no sighting policy’, which states that in the unlikely event of a shark not being seen, you will get all your money back.” explains Brian.
The “Apex Predator” is a state-of-the-art custom build catamaran and is 13m long and 5.1m wide, fitted with 4 x 200 HP 4 stroke engines.
The diving platform gives access to a floating cage for 8 divers at a time. The sharks are not able to enter the cage and have never been interested in doing so.
A shuttle service in a luxury air-conditioned carrier is provided to and from Cape Town.
